Holzer Emergency Departments recently hosted cookouts for local EMS personnel at our facilities in Gallipolis, Jackson, and Pomeroy, Ohio in recognition of National Emergency Medical Services Week. National EMS recognizes our local EMS personnel as well as gives us a time to publicly thank them for the duties they
carry out each and every day. At each celebration, attendees were able to meet representatives from Ohio Valley Physicians, the group providing Emergency and Hospitalist providers at Holzer Emergency Departments.
The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) was instrumental in establishing EMS Week when President Gerald Ford declared November 3 – 10, 1974 as the first “National Emergency Medical Services Week." In 1992, EMS Week was moved to the third week in May.
